WORK-IN-YOUR-UNDIES DAY! A recent Saturday found us celebrating the engineering marvels of vintage lingerie by wearing these instruments of lifting and shaping as we worked. Our MySpace slideshow reveals all!
"SCARY PUPPETS:" A MUSICAL FASHION SHOW! We and our roommates at Balance Salon staged a way-out fashion show of living vintage puppets. Even the guests got into the act--almost everyone had a puppet face that night! We've got the photos to prove it on MySpace.
WORLD OF STYLE VINTAGE and BALANCE SALON present THE CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR! Who needs Radio City? This was the ultimate in holiday entertainment, a dazzling show that will forever redefine the word "Spectacular"! Visit our MySpace page to see the slideshow from this multi-act extravaganza featuring...Dirty Santa and his candy cane! Models galore! Ms. Scrooge versus Tiny Tina! The Horny Elf! The Stylettes as the Dancing Reindeer! Fireworks and snow!! PLUS we kicked off a new exhibit of collages by Joel Gertler!! There were hordes of merrymakers and plenty of holiday cheer (by this we mean booze, of course).
WFMU RECORD FAIR! We took our LIVE MANNEQUIN MODEL SQUAD on the road to NYC and wowed the glitterati and cognoscenti at the biggest music-buying fair in the Free World! People from all over the globe came to admire and gawk at our LIVE MANNEQUINS and of course to paw and consume our dazzling display of wares!
HALLOWEEN COSTUMES GALORE! Did you know that we made custom costumes??? Yes, the vampire cape on our model pictured at left is a World of Style original, sewn from a 1972 pattern. We also make Naughty Nurse hats and dresses, Catwoman ears, mouse ears, poodle skirts, petticoats, caftans, dashikis, turbans and more. ARTISTS TOUR HALLOWEEN FASHION SHOW! We kicked off the Jersey City Artists Studio Tour with a fantabulous group exhibit on the walls and ceiling, live mannequins all afternoon and, as the pièce de resistance, a phantasmagorical fashion show of Halloween costume ideas. Scary clowns, vampires, naughty witches, naughty nurses, naughty Minnie Mouse, monsters...and of course Carla gave birth to a goat onstage. Too, too horribly graphic to show! You just had to be there!!
2nd ANNUAL FALL FASHION SHOW! Balance, World of Style and Makeup By Sidney presented a cavalcade of live models showing off glamorous hair and fashion ideas to fit your lifestyle in the cooler weather! Plus, a new art exhibit by Kayt will grace our salon/boutique/art gallery! AND there will be a film crew on hand to get footage for our reality show pilot.
JC PRIDE 2007 MODEL SQUAD! Yes, once again Balance and World of Style put together a Swimsuit Model Squad with makeup by Sidney and sent them over to Jersey City Pride 2007 to support our fabulous GLBTI community! The ladies and gentleman in their festive vintage beachwear helped spread the message of "Live & Let Love." See our MySpace slideshow for pix!
GRAND RE-OPENING PARTY! We celebrated the ultra-grooviness of our new digs with our roommates at Balance Salon on July 7th. We had a boffo art opening, glitterati galore in attendance, and of course LIVE dancing models in the windows doing the Twist, the Watusi and the Mashed Potato all afternoon!
BARBECUE YARD SALE! We had a tasty good time hosting another Summer Social for our fabulous friends from JCLGO. The burgers and pork tips were all devoured at the party, but the fun lingered on as the indoor yard sale continued right up to our move at the end of June!
VINTAGE A-GO-GO FASHION SHOW! World of Style and Balance Salon have outdone ourselves yet again...the go-go models wowed the audience and the party went on into the night! And everyone got a wee taste of what life will be like when World of Style moves in with Balance in a few weeks. It was all part of the fun and excitement that is the JC Fridays festival.
BLACK & WHITE PENTHOUSE PARTY!. The Quiet City crowd went monochrome to celebrate keyboard music...the Model Squad and several regular guests pulled out all the stops to show off their best Op-Art outfits! More pix will be showing up on the the Quiet City MySpace.
